IT Specialist I-IV (SAP BW Specialist)

As a part of the Business Support team, you will support formal data lifecycle management, governance, reporting and analytics, all necessary to advance the capability of data and information management. You will be responsible to create data models optimized across different data domains and for various purposes, working with enterprise requirements from business/data analysts, architects, data administrators, database developers, and data scientists.
Key functions include:
- Perform Data Modeler functions in SAP BW 7.5 on HANA, SAP BW/4HANA and SAP HANA Studio, utilizing data modeling and data warehouse skills. This includes, but not limited to, the expansion and updates to the existing data models, creation of InfoObjects, InfoProviders, DataStore objects, data flows, data views and data sources
- Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve production issues in SAP BW on HANA, SAP BW/4HANA and SAP HANA. Monitor and fix data loads and respond to job failure alerts
- Provide support in the implementation of ETL processes, including data capture, data transformations and validation
- Work with business, application support and architecture teams to implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual/logical/physical data models for operational and analytical environments
- The successful candidate will be required to participate in an on-call rotation
Our ideal teammate will have:
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a relevant discipline
- Three years hands-on experience in developing and optimizing data models in SAP BW (BW7.x, BW on HANA or BW/4HANA), including data extractions and process chains as well as experience in data analysis
Combined with:
- Intermediate level SQL development skills
- Intermediate skill level with ETL tools and data ingestion protocols
- Knowledge and exposure to Business Intelligence tools (SAP BI, MS Power BI)
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office products (i.e.: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)
- Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail combined with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Knowledge of SAP ABAP and SAP HANA Studio would be considered an asset
- Experience with utility-related data and information would be considered an asset
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
