Job Details
Position Title: Coordinator, Facility
Status: Full-Time Support
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Standard hours are 7am – 3pm, Monday to Friday. (During portions of the varsity seasons, the incumbent should expect significant evening and weekend hours). Required to carry a cell phone and be “on call” during peak periods.
Faculty/Department: Athletics and Recreation in Student Success & Engagement
Campus/Location: This is an in-person role that primarily takes place at the North campus location but could involve travel to any of Humber’s Athletics Facilities. There is also additional travel expected to various off-site venues for game set up and operations.
Payband: H
Salary Range: $38.09 – $44.04
Starting Salary: $38.09
Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.
About Athletics And Recreation At Humber
This role is part of the Athletics and Recreation team, which is a program within the Student Success & Engagement (SSE) department. SSE is a service-oriented portfolio with a mission to empower a diverse community of learners towards discovering their potential. The Humber Athletics and Recreation team foster the success of the many winning varsity teams, and also a space for physical fitness, recreation, and intermural sports for the larger Humber community.
About The Facility Coordinator Role
The position supports the efficient day-to-day operation of the Athletics facilities, including facility preparation, equipment maintenance, membership services, and the scheduling and coordination of part-time and student staff, The position assists with their recruitment, orientation, training, confirms payroll information, and ensures they are appropriately supported in their assigned responsibilities. The position also helps ensure equipment and facility spaces are safe, operational, properly maintained, and prepared for daily programming and events.
They are the primary departmental contact for sport venue and facility-related service providers, equipment repair companies, and facility maintenance teams. Responsibilities include coordinating service calls and repairs, scheduling work, monitoring completion, obtaining required documentation, and communicating issues or deficiencies to the appropriate internal stakeholders. The incumbent also identifies equipment and facility deficiencies, recommends repairs or improvements to the Manager, researches suppliers and potential solutions, documents corrective actions, and completes emergency repairs when appropriately qualified to do so.
The position is responsible for the operational preparation of Humber’s varsity and extramural home games, tournaments, championships, and other sporting events. This includes preparing and configuring athletic venues for competition, setting up and taking down equipment, ensuring competition areas are appropriately prepared, and addressing facility and equipment requirements before and during events. The incumbent works with coaches, officials, visiting teams, event organizers, internal departments, service providers, and external sport organizations to support the successful delivery of competitions and events. The incumbent must have working knowledge of OCAA, CCAA, OCR, and applicable sport-specific rules, regulations, facility requirements, equipment standards, game operations, and event procedures. The position requires the ability to apply this knowledge to the practical preparation and operation of Humber's on and off-site athletic venues. Experience supporting post-secondary varsity athletics, tournaments, championships, recreational sport, or other competitive sporting events is considered an important component of the role. The incumbent will be the initial on site contact when hosting events in partnership with Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs), National Sport Organizations (NSOs), and other external sport governing bodies.
The incumbent is responsible for supporting risk management and facility safety practices, including conducting regular equipment safety inspections, identifying and reporting hazards, ensuring corrective actions are followed up on, and providing staff with appropriate safety training and direction. The incumbent conducts regular facility walk-throughs during each shift and helps ensure that applicable legislation, standards, policies, and guidelines are followed in the safe operation of the recreational facility, including ORFA, WHMIS, AODA, and Occupational Health and Safety requirements. The incumbent also maintains inventory control for program-specific equipment and supplies.
The incumbent coordinates the ongoing maintenance and operation of Athletics Department vehicles, including scheduling required maintenance and service, maintaining accurate vehicle maintenance records, coordinating fleet requirements, and maintaining an up-to-date record of employees authorized and insured to operate departmental vehicles.
The incumbent coordinates departmental purchasing and requisitioning processes and supports the processing and tracking of departmental invoices. The incumbent serves as the primary contact for routine purchasing and invoice-related inquiries, ensuring that requests are appropriately processed, documented, and directed for approval in accordance with institutional procedures and financial controls

Education
2-year Diploma or equivalent (preference for Recreation Leadership or Business).
Additional Requirements
The incumbent will be certified in CPR, Standard First Aid, De-fib training, WHMIS, Risk Management, Working from Heights.
Experience/Skills
- Minimum of five (5) years experience working in both facility and program operations and delivery of recreational programming and/or facility management, preferably at the post secondary level.
- Leadership experience required.
