IT Manager
Location- Winnipeg, Manitoba
Work setup- Onsite (5 days a week)

Day to day
The day-to-day focus is centered around full-cycle corporate IT operations and keeping systems running smoothly. This is a hands on IT Manager position with on experienced IT Specialist reporting into you. You will prioritize and resolve high-impact technical issues, assign incoming user tickets to the IT Specialist, and manage critical operational task flows. Key daily activities include managing and reviewing IT vendor contract renewals to prevent service disruptions, actively monitoring security systems for potential threats, ensuring backup systems function correctly, and maintaining corporate infrastructure stability.
Responsibilities
- IT Operations & Infrastructure: Oversee and maintain day-to-day corporate IT operations, ensuring high availability, system performance, and network infrastructure reliability across 30+ virtual servers supporting over 150 employees.
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Direct, guide, and mentor a highly skilled, long-tenured IT Specialist; triage and delegate technical support tickets, setting service standards across the organization.
- Digital Security & Compliance: Act as the primary guardian of digital security (accounting for roughly 75% of focus), implementing security policies, maintaining threat monitoring (Microsoft Defender), managing access control, and leading incident response.
- Microsoft Enterprise Administration: Hands-on management and administration of the Microsoft enterprise ecosystem, including Azure AD / Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, Exchange Online, and SharePoint/Teams.
- Contract & Vendor Management: Review, negotiate, and maintain third-party IT vendor and licensing contracts to guarantee zero expiration of critical business services.
- Disaster Recovery & Backups: Verify, manage, and optimize data backup systems; draft, update, and maintain comprehensive IT disaster recovery plans.
- Issue Remediation & Escalations: Perform root-cause analysis and execute remediation plans for both routine operational issues and major systemic outages.
Required Skills
- Experience Level: 5 to 7+ years of progressive IT operations experience, including 1 to 3+ years in a supervisory or team leadership role.
- Technical Ecosystem: Deep hands-on expertise with Microsoft enterprise technologies, including Azure Cloud, Entra ID (Azure AD), Intune, Exchange Online, Office 365, and Active Directory.
- Security Operations: Strong background in corporate security environments, including threat monitoring, endpoint protection (Defender), access management, and incident response.
- Infrastructure & Virtualization: Strong background in networking, back-office infrastructure management, and managing virtualized server environments (VMware / Hyper-V; ~30 virtual servers).
- Leadership Capabilities: Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and delegating work to technical personnel with high technical aptitude.
Nice to have Skills
- Experience developing, organizing, and executing comprehensive IT Disaster Recovery plans.
- Recognized professional IT or security certifications, such as CISSP, CITM, or I.S.P.
- Prior experience working within a national corporate environment with remote and branch office infrastructure.
Pay Transparency:
The expected hour rate for this position falls between $50 to $65/hr
