Role Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Business analyst that can hit the ground running and assist with demonstrating the value having a Business Analyst work alongside the business to facilitate and document current and desired future state processes, conduct a fit/gap analysis, elicit requirements to a level of detail that technology teams can translate into solutions, produce a traceability matrix, and support the project team end to end.
The ideal candidate is a very senior seasoned business analyst that can work with varied stakeholders and produce deliverables that can be turned into a template for the rest of the team.
Responsibilities
- Define and tailor the business analysis approach, scope, activities, deliverables, estimates and dependencies to initiative complexity and the delivery approach; provide analysis input to project and portfolio planning.
- Plan stakeholder engagement, analysis governance and information management, including decision rights, approval processes, change assessment, version control and access to analysis information.
- Monitor analysis progress, risks and deliverable quality; coordinate assigned analysis resources with Project Managers and functional leaders; identify and implement improvements to business analysis practices, tools and techniques.
- Identify stakeholders and prepare and conduct elicitation using interviews, workshops, observation, document review, process monitoring, work sampling, time and motion studies, and data analysis as appropriate.
- Confirm elicitation findings with stakeholders and communicate business needs, requirements, process models, business rules and design options in forms suited to the audience.
- Facilitate collaboration across business and IT teams, resolve conflicting needs, build consensus on proposed changes, and escalate unresolved decisions to the appropriate decision-makers.
- Maintain requirements and design information from inception through retirement, including status, ownership, dependencies, versions and opportunities for reuse.
- Facilitate prioritization based on business value, risk, urgency, dependencies and feasibility; assess proposed changes and their impacts on scope, costs, benefits, processes, data, systems and stakeholders.
- Maintain traceability from business objectives through stakeholder and solution requirements, designs, acceptance criteria and test coverage; facilitate approval by designated decision-makers and communicate approved changes.
- Define business problems and opportunities; assess current-state processes, capabilities and root causes, including impacts on people, data, systems, policies, business rules and physical assets.
- Define future-state outcomes and measures with business owners, assess gaps, risks and organizational readiness, and recommend a change strategy aligned with business and operational goals.
- Partner with business stakeholders to prepare business cases and proposals, including scope, feasibility, financial analysis, cost estimates, benefits, assumptions and risks for alternative options, to support portfolio decisions.
- Specify and model business, stakeholder, solution and transition requirements, including functional and non-functional needs, business rules, processes, data, interfaces and temporary migration, training and readiness needs.
- Verify that requirements are clear, consistent, sufficiently complete and testable; validate that they support business needs and intended value. Organize requirements and models to show relationships, dependencies and coverage.
- Develop and compare process, business-rule, training and technology design options with relevant specialists; recommend options based on expected value, feasibility, constraints and risk, and communicate functional needs to delivery teams.
- Define solution performance measures, baselines, targets and acceptance criteria with business owners; support test planning, user acceptance testing and implementation readiness in collaboration with testing and delivery teams.
- Assess implemented solution performance against expected outcomes, including cost reduction, efficiency, service levels and business effectiveness; analyze gaps and identify solution and organizational limitations.
- Recommend actions to improve solution value and address adoption, process or technology issues; support business owners in evaluating benefits and prioritizing further improvements.
- Lead complex analysis assignments, coach and mentor Business Analysts, review analysis deliverables, and promote consistent, fit-for-purpose practices informed by IIBA guidance and organizational standards.
- For assigned direct reports, set objectives, support development, allocate analysis work and carry out the organization's performance management process.
