We are looking for a Test Lead for a 12-month contract position, with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
Position is available as hybrid. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week.
Role Description
The Test Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing testing activities throughout the software development lifecycle. This role provides leadership and direction to testing teams, ensuring solutions are thoroughly validated and meet business, technical, and quality requirements. The Test Lead works closely with project managers, business analysts, developers, technical teams, and stakeholders to manage testing activities, identify risks, and support successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain test strategies, plans, schedules, and approaches aligned with project objectives and requirements.
- Lead and coordinate testing activities across multiple phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Define testing scope, objectives, resources, timelines, and deliverables.
- Coordinate functional, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing activities.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and support to testers and project team members involved in testing.
- Review business and technical requirements to ensure they are clear, complete, and testable.
- Develop, review, and maintain test cases, scenarios, scripts, and supporting documentation.
- Monitor testing progress, track defects, and ensure issues are appropriately prioritized and resolved.
- Collaborate with development and technical teams to investigate defects and validate fixes.
- Identify testing risks, dependencies, and quality concerns and communicate them to project stakeholders.
- Prepare testing status reports, metrics, and updates for project and leadership teams.
- Coordinate test environments, test data, and testing readiness activities.
- Ensure testing deliverables are completed in accordance with established processes, standards, and quality expectations.
- Support release, implementation, and post-release validation activities as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve testing processes, methodologies, tools, and overall quality practices.
Required Skills and Experience
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or a related technology role.
• Demonstrated experience leading or coordinating testing activities for technology projects.
- Strong understanding of software testing methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
- Experience developing test strategies, test plans, test cases, and testing documentation.
- Experience with defect tracking and test management tools.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Experience working within Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid project delivery environments.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Experience with test automation and automated testing frameworks.
- Experience with API, integration, performance, or other specialized testing practices.
- Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Familiarity with test management and defect tracking platforms.
- Experience supporting complex, enterprise-level technology implementations.
- Experience with continuous improvement initiatives related to quality assurance and testing.
- ISTQB or other relevant testing/quality assurance certification.
