Our client is a leading panel shop that has been providing automated solutions for their customers in the GTA for the past 60 years. They are looking for an Electrical Designer to join their growing engineering team. This position will have you involved with a wide array of industries and sectors; large- and small-scale projects and both design engineering as well as hands-on application of turning designs into the finished product
This role is in Mississauga, ON and will be a straight day shift Monday – Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom electrical control panels based on customer specifications, project requirements, and applicable electrical standards.
- Create and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and control drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar electrical design software.
- Select appropriate electrical components including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, contactors, relays, circuit breakers, power supplies, terminal blocks, and safety devices.
- Develop panel layouts to ensure proper component placement, wiring accessibility, heat dissipation, and serviceability.
- Prepare bill of materials (BOMs), wire lists, cable schedules, terminal plans, and other manufacturing documentation.
- Assist with testing and programming IED relays for Hydro utility applications
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of experience designing custom electrical control panels, industrial control systems, or automation equipment.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, control circuits, and electrical components.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or comparable electrical design software.
- Experience creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs, and manufacturing drawings.
- Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, motor starters, relays, contactors, sensors, safety circuits, and industrial networking.
- Familiarity with 24VDC control systems, 120/240VAC control circuits, and three-phase power distribution.
