Our client, a manufacturing leader in the garage door industry is looking for a Licensed Electrician/service technician to join their team. This position combines electrical expertise with hands-on mechanical work involving the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial and industrial garage door systems, operators, dock equipment, and related products.
The successful candidate will possess strong electrical knowledge, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work independently while delivering exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Install,
troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical components associated with
commercial and industrial garage doors, door operators, loading docks, and
related equipment.
- Perform
electrical wiring, controls installation, and commissioning in accordance
with applicable electrical codes and company standards.
- Diagnose
and resolve electrical, mechanical, and operational issues efficiently and
safely.
- Conduct
mechanical installations, adjustments, repairs, and preventative
maintenance on doors, springs, tracks, hardware, motors, and operating
systems.
- Read
and interpret PLCs, electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams,
and technical manuals.
- Ensure
all work complies with safety regulations, electrical codes, and company
procedures.
- Communicate
effectively with customers regarding equipment conditions, recommended
repairs, and maintenance requirements.
- Complete
service reports, work orders, and documentation accurately and promptly.
- Participate
in on-call and emergency service activities as required.
- Maintain
company tools, vehicles, and equipment in good working condition.
Qualifications
- Valid
Electrical License (309A, 442A, or equivalent provincial/state
certification).
- Minimum
3 years of experience in electrical installation, maintenance, or service
work.
- Strong
mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on mechanical repairs
and installations.
- Experience
with motors, controls, automation systems, VFDs, and industrial equipment
is considered an asset.
- Ability
to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Excellent
problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Valid
driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability
to work at heights and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong
customer service and communication skills.
- Ability
to work independently and as part of a team.
