Responsibilities
- Collaborate with stakeholders, team members, product owners, and business analysts to understand requirements, refine data needs, and support the delivery of iterative, value-focused solutions.
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Use software development and lifecycle tools such as Oracle SQL Developer, Azure DevOps, and Git to ensure quality, maintain version control, and support configuration management.
- Communicate proactively and effectively with all team members and stakeholders.
- Follow established build and release management processes across Development, Test, Pre-Production, and Production environments, including code promotion, database updates, validation steps, documentation, and required approvals.
- Ensure adherence to applicable information security requirements and data-handling practices.
- Deliver work that follows Government of Canada web accessibility standards.
- Analyze, interpret, and translate legacy source datasets, including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and other file- or system-based sources, into structures compatible with Oracle database and Oracle APEX environments.
- Plan and perform end-to-end ETL activities to migrate datasets from legacy sources into Oracle environments, including staging, transforming, validating, and loading data using Oracle SQL, PL/SQL, and applicable APEX utilities.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance legacy Microsoft Access-based and Microsoft SQL Server-based applications to sustain support services and enable required data extraction and migration.
- Document data mappings, transformation logic, business rules, profiling results, and data-quality findings required for transparency and repeatability.
- Support software development activities as required, including bug and change-request development, peer code reviews, testing, and test-script development.
Qualifications
- Education: A post-secondary degree or diploma in engineering, science, computer science, mathematics, or a technology domain
- 10+ years of experience working as a software developer and/or database modeller.
- 2+ years of experience migrating and translating data from source formats such as files, legacy systems, or relational databases into Oracle database environments, including extracting, transforming, mapping, and loading data.
- 2+ years of experience developing and maintaining complex queries, stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database objects using Oracle PL/SQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server T-SQL.
- 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining Microsoft Access database applications, including developing forms using Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and troubleshooting, debugging, and optimizing MS Access applications.
- 1+ year of experience developing applications in Oracle Application Express (APEX).
- Experience using tools such as Microsoft Access, Microsoft Azure DevOps, Oracle SQL Developer, and Unified Codes APEX Office Print (AOP).
- Experience working in the aviation or aerospace domain is an asset.
Secret clearance & Controlled Goods required.
