Civil Structural Engineer on behalf of our client. They’re expanding their team to meet growing needs, making this a unique opportunity to work with an industry leader. Our Client, is one of the largest electrical energy suppliers in Canada
Note: The primary pay rate is based on the rate for an incorporated contractor who owns their own business. However, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in a T4 arrangement, where applicable.
Description
The Civil Structural Engineer in this role will apply broad engineering knowledge to provide engineering, estimating, planning, and quality management services for medium-complexity projects and operations safely, on time, and within budget. The successful candidate will operate in a hybrid work environment based out the Burnaby Office while maintaining the flexibility to conduct regular site visits across the province.
Responsibilities
- Engineering Solutions: Develop safe engineering solutions by using initiative and judgment to perform tasks such as developing designs, analyzing and resolving problems, and interpreting engineering specifications on medium-complexity assignments.
- Project Support: Assist project or operations management in meeting safety, cost, quality, and time objectives. Responsibilities include proposing plan and cost changes, recommending contractor payments, preparing progress reports, and coordinating work schedules.
- Technical Problem Solving: Resolve technical and unusual design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising independent judgment, and recommending safe engineering designs.
- Engineering Practice & Guidance: Participate in ’s engineering practice by contributing to technical standards, making decisions related to methods and designs, and providing guidance and advice to other engineering professionals.
Qualifications
- 8 years of civil and structural engineering experience with a broad civil and structural design experience across multiple design environments, involving steel, concrete, and wood.
- Experience working across a wide variety of project types rather than being limited to a highly specialized discipline.
- Strong practical engineering judgment with a demonstrated ability to develop effective design solutions.
- Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting utility, infrastructure, or generation-related projects.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Technical Skills
- Familiarity with CAD systems and drawing standards.
- Ability to use standard industry design and analysis software.
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- P.Eng and will be required to Provide Proof of Permit to Practice, registered with EGBC when hired
Additional Information
Travel Requirements: Required (1–2 times per month across British Columbia for site visits; travel funding is included in the budget). Candidates must be locally based to support site attendance requirements.
Every contractor must supply their own Windows 11 Laptop computer for the duration of the assignment.
Every contractor must supply their own “Smart Phone”. This is needed to gain access to the Organizations network.
