Position
With offices in Stoney Creek (ON), Boisbriand (QC) and Saguenay (QC) and Edmonton (AB), we are currently looking for a Certified Crane Service Technician to join our Stoney Creek team, serving a varied clientele throughout Ontario.
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Service Technician performs the maintenance and repair work required to ensure the proper functioning of lifting equipment at our customers’ sites throughout Ontario. In this role, you will interact with skilled tradespeople, operators, supervisors, equipment suppliers, and customers.
What You’ll Do
- Perform inspections of overhead crane lifting equipment in accordance with current standards.
- Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and perform the necessary repairs for issues of varying complexity.
- Analyze equipment failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Modify equipment according to work requirements.
- Perform any other tasks requested by the supervisor.
- Maintain excellent business relationships with clients and address inquiries, concerns, and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Provide timely and courteous service to maintain positive client relationships and customer satisfaction.
- Provide guidance and training to clients on proper crane operation, safety protocols, and maintenance practices.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, including repairs, inspections, and maintenance.
- Generate detailed reports outlining work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance or upgrades.
Requirements
What you’ll bring:
- Certified Journeyman Electrician or Millwright with a minimum of 4 years of crane experience.
- Electrical and/or mechanical experience.
- Experience in electromechanical troubleshooting is an asset.
- Experience with overhead lifting equipment is an asset.
- Experience reading electrical and mechanical blueprints.
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and punctuality.
- Strong observation skills and customer service orientation.
- Ability to manage pressure, prioritize tasks, and address day-to-day challenges.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Comfortable working at heights.
- Ability to work standing or in awkward positions for extended periods of time.
- Hardworking, reliable, available, and willing to travel throughout Ontario.
- Safety-conscious mindset.
The position is based on a 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule consisting of one week of on-call duty every three weeks. The candidate may also be required to work evenings and weekends, with paid overtime, according to the needs of our clients.
