Position
With offices in Stoney Creek (ON), Boisbriand (QC) and Saguenay (QC) andEdmonton (AB) we are looking for a Junior Crane Service Technician to join our Stoney Creek team and support our customers throughout Ontario.
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Junior Service Technician will support the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of overhead lifting equipment at customer sites. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrician or skilled tradesperson looking to develop specialized expertise in crane and lifting equipment while working alongside experienced technicians.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with inspections and maintenance of overhead crane and lifting equipment.
- Participate in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical issues.
- Assist with repairs, adjustments, and modifications to equipment as required.
- Read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings with support from experienced technicians.
- Help identify equipment issues and contribute to determining appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform preventive maintenance activities according to established procedures.
- Support senior technicians during service calls and equipment repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, and work performed.
- Prepare service reports and recommendations for future maintenance or repairs.
- Interact professionally with customers, operators, supervisors, and other tradespeople on site.
- Develop knowledge of crane operation, safety requirements, and maintenance practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements
What you’ll bring:
- Electrical, electromechanical, or mechanical training, such as an electrician, electrical technician, industrial mechanic, or related trade.
- Some experience in industrial maintenance, electrical troubleshooting, or a related field.
- Experience with overhead cranes or lifting equipment is an asset but not required.
- Ability to read and understand basic electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Good mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Strong problem-solving and observation skills.
- Ability to learn from experienced technicians and work effectively as part of a team.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Initiative, reliability, and a willingness to take on new challenges.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Comfortable working at heights and in industrial environments.
- Ability to work standing or in awkward positions for extended periods.
- Willingness to travel throughout Ontario.
- Safety-conscious mindset.
The position is based on a 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with a rotating 24/7 on-call schedule consisting of one week of on-call duty every three weeks. The candidate may also be required to work evenings and weekends, with paid overtime, according to the needs of our clients.
