Class 1/AZ Linehaul Driver – Overnight
Montreal – Mississauga – Montreal | Overnight Linehaul
Compensation: $0.56/mile + $27.59/hour for pre/post-trip duties
Average Mileage: Approximately 500–600 miles per night, subject to freight volume
Shift: Monday–Friday; approximately 11:00 p.m. start
Primary Route: Montreal to Mississauga and return to Montreal
Work Type: Terminal-to-terminal; primarily drop-and-hook
SUMMARY
We are hiring a Class 1/AZ Linehaul Driver for a consistent overnight run between our Montreal and Mississauga terminals. This is a Monday–Friday position with an approximate 11:00 p.m. start, averaging 500–600 miles per night, subject to freight volume. The run is terminal-to-terminal and primarily drop-and-hook.
Drivers are paid $0.56/mile plus $27.59/hour for pre- and post-trip duties.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate a Class 1/AZ vehicle in all road, weather and temperature conditions.
- Complete the Montreal–Mississauga–Montreal linehaul run according to schedule and company procedures.
- Perform terminal-to-terminal drop-and-hook movements.
- Complete required pre- and post-trip inspections and ensure equipment is in safe working order.
- Communicate with dispatch regarding delays, equipment concerns and operational issues.
- Complete all required trip documentation, paperwork and electronic logs.
- Comply with Hours of Service regulations and all applicable transportation legislation.
- Report equipment maintenance concerns to Fleet Maintenance.
- Operate onboard telematics and communication systems as required.
- Attend required driver safety meetings.
- Slip seating is required.
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Class 1 or AZ licence.
- Minimum 1 year of verifiable Class 1/AZ driving experience.
- Comfortable driving overnight on a regular basis.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and health survey.
- Driver abstract, CVOR and a copy of driver’s licence must be provided at the time of interview.
- Employment reference check and criminal record check will be completed.
- Required to wear PPE provided by The Erb Group.
- Ability to work safely and independently.
WORKING CONDITIONS
This is a regular overnight linehaul position operating primarily between our Montreal and Mississauga terminals. The standard schedule is Monday–Friday with an approximate 11:00 p.m. start. Start and finish times may occasionally vary due to traffic, weather, operational requirements and Hours of Service regulations.
While Montreal–Mississauga–Montreal is the primary route, drivers may occasionally be required to travel to other Erb Group terminals based on business and operational needs.
Drivers must be comfortable with overnight driving and slip seating.
