Position Summary
WSG is seeking experienced Valve Test Technicians to support valve testing and verification activities on the Woodfibre LNG Project.
The Valve Test Technician is responsible for the identification, setup, testing, measurement, adjustment, reinstatement, and documentation of valves in accordance with approved procedures, project specifications, and client requirements. All testing activities are performed under the direction of approved supervision and technical authorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and verify valves against project drawings, test packages, and equipment records.
- Prepare and set up valve testing equipment and associated temporary connections.
- Perform valve testing activities in accordance with approved procedures and manufacturer specifications.
- Conduct seat leakage, shell, functional, operational, and pressure testing as required.
- Measure, record, and verify test results against approved acceptance criteria.
- Diagnose and report valve performance issues and non-conformances.
- Perform valve adjustments within approved procedures and competency limits.
- Assist with troubleshooting failed tests and support corrective actions.
- Reinstate valves and associated systems following successful completion of testing activities.
- Complete test reports, inspection records, calibration documentation, and turnover records.
- Maintain testing equipment in a safe and operational condition.
- Verify that all permits, isolations, and safety requirements are in place before commencing work.
- Participate in toolbox talks, pre-job planning meetings, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with project safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
- Support commissioning, completion, and turnover teams as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of industrial valve testing, mechanical maintenance, commissioning, or QA/QC experience.
- Experience testing manual, actuated, control, relief, and isolation valves.
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, isometrics, valve schedules, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
- Familiarity with pressure testing principles and valve acceptance requirements.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience completing technical documentation and testing records.
- Ability to work safely in a high-performance industrial environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous LNG, refinery, petrochemical, oil and gas, or major industrial project experience.
- Journeyperson Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, Pipefitter, or equivalent trade certification.
- Experience with valve manufacturers such as Fisher, Velan, Cameron, Orbit, Bray, Neway, ValvTechnologies, or equivalent.
- Commissioning and mechanical completion experience.
- Knowledge of ASME, API, and manufacturer testing requirements.
- Experience with digital completion and turnover systems.
