One of Alquemy's clients, a pension fund in downtown Toronto, is looking to hire a Lead, Technology Strategy & Innovation (AI & Transformation)
Lead, Technology Strategy & Innovation (AI & Transformation)
Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid - 4 Days Onsite Mandatory)
Role Type: Flexible Engagement Options Available:
- Option 1: 6-Month Contract - Opportunity for extension, conversion, or internal mobility based on business need.
- Option 2: 1-Year Salaried Contract - Includes Day 1 benefits, 3 weeks vacation + paid firm days, sick leave, and pension eligibility.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a sharp, articulate Technology Strategy & Innovation Lead to act as the strategic bridge between investment teams and technology groups. Sitting within a high-impact Customer Success & Innovation team, you will shape ambiguous business problems into actionable technology, data, and Generative AI solutions across Private Markets workflows.
This is not a traditional Business Analyst, Project Manager, or hands-on AI Engineering role. We are looking for a strategic problem-solver who can challenge the status quo, facilitate executive workshops, build high-impact presentations, and guide technical teams (data, architecture, engineering) to build solutions that drive measurable value.
What You’ll Do
- Strategic Advisory & Problem Shaping: Work directly with Private Markets investment leaders to uncover workflow bottlenecks, challenge initial asks, and define practical, tech-enabled solutions across research, due diligence, portfolio monitoring, and reporting.
- GenAI & Innovation Guidance: Identify where and how to integrate Generative AI into daily workflows - guiding teams on when to leverage simple prompting, structured AI workflows, or emerging AI agents.
- Workshop Facilitation & Stakeholder Engagement: Personally design and lead discovery workshops, crafting compelling pitch decks and advisory materials in PowerPoint for senior stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate closely with engineering, data, risk, security, and architecture teams to translate business vision into practical implementation while leaving the technical build to the engineers.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Haves:
- Private Markets Expertise (2+ Years): Direct domain depth in Private Equity, Infrastructure, Private Capital, or Private Investments. You must speak the language of investment professionals and intimately understand their daily processes and pain points.
- Transformation & Strategy (3–5 Years): Proven experience leading technology-enabled transformation programs or strategic workstreams where answers were not predefined.
- Practical GenAI Depth: Demonstrated business use of GenAI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) with a clear conceptual understanding of trade-offs between basic chat, structured workflows, and agentic AI. (Casual personal use is insufficient).
- Workshop & Executive Presentation Skills: Strong facilitator with top-tier presentation/PowerPoint skills, polished communication, and the ability to influence senior business leaders without direct authority.
- Technology Literacy: Highly tech-fluent with an understanding of how modern data platforms support AI and automation, without needing to write code.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Hands-on exposure to Power BI, Power Platform, SQL, Python, or workflow automation tools.
Ideal Profiles
- A Private Markets professional who transitioned into technology advisory, digital transformation, or strategy.
- A Technology Strategy / Transformation Consultant who has been deeply embedded within Private Equity or Private Markets user groups.
- A Senior Business Analyst or Product Lead who has evolved far beyond traditional requirements-gathering into high-level problem shaping and AI adoption.
