Role SummaryThe AS400 (IBM i iSeries) System Administrator is responsible for the administration| monitoring| maintenance| security| patching| upgrades| and operational support of IBM i environments. The role ensures platform stability| performance| availability| and compliance while managing batch scheduling operations using ROBOT Scheduler and supporting business-critical production workloads. 1. IBM i AS400 System AdministrationAdminister and maintain IBM i (AS400iSeries) environments across Production| DR| QA| and Development systems.Perform daily health checks| system monitoring| and performance tuning.Manage user profiles| authorities| object permissions| and security controls.Monitor system resources| storage utilization| and capacity planning.Perform IPL activities and system startupshutdown operations.Troubleshoot operating system| subsystem| and job-related issues.Ensure adherence to ITIL-based Incident| Problem| and Change Management processes. 2. OS Management| PTFs| and UpgradesPlan and execute IBM i OS upgrades and technology refresh activities.Manage PTF installation| cumulative packages| HIPER PTFs| and security patches.Conduct pre-upgrade assessments and compatibility checks with applications and third-party tools.Coordinate maintenance windows and upgrade activities with business stakeholders.Perform validation| testing| rollback planning| and post-upgrade verification.Document upgrade procedures| risks| and remediation activities.Support firmware updates and Power Systems infrastructure maintenance. 3. Backup| Recovery Disaster RecoveryAdminister BRMS (Backup Recovery and Media Services).Execute scheduled and on-demand backups and restore operations.Manage virtual tape and media lifecycle.Perform recovery testing and DR drill activities.Support High Availability solutions such as MIMIX| PowerHA| iCluster| or equivalent.Participate in failover and failback exercises and DR readiness reviews. 4. ROBOT Scheduler AdministrationConfigure| administer| and maintain ROBOT Scheduler environments.Create| modify| and manage batch jobs| calendars| dependencies| and workflows.Monitor critical business batch schedules and production job streams.Manage cross-system and cross-LPAR job dependencies.Troubleshoot failed| delayed| long-running| and abnormally terminated jobs.Perform job reruns| schedule modifications| and recovery activities.Support month-end| quarter-end| and year-end business processing schedules.Generate scheduler reports| audit information| and operational metrics.Coordinate with application teams for new job implementation and schedule changes. 5. Production Control Batch OperationsMonitor production batch workloads and job queues.Manage subsystems| message queues| output queues| and spool files.Analyze performance bottlenecks and optimize batch execution windows.Support ad-hoc| scheduled| and on-demand production
