Parker Huggett is proud to be working with a well-established Ottawa construction firm to identify an experienced Project Manager to join their growing team.
For more than four decades, our client has built a strong reputation throughout the National Capital Region for delivering unique and technically challenging construction projects with a focus on quality, craftsmanship and client service. Their portfolio spans commercial, institutional, municipal and federal work, including construction management, general contracting, civil/site development, restoration and specialty construction.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Project Manager who enjoys being close to the work and wants to join a locally established contractor where decisions are made quickly, relationships matter, and you can have a direct impact on the success of your projects.
Unlike larger corporate contractors where Project Managers can become removed from the actual construction, this environment offers the opportunity to stay involved, work directly with experienced leadership and field teams, and see the impact of your decisions firsthand.
As Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned construction projects while working closely with the estimating, field and senior management teams.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Managing projects from pre-construction and turnover through execution and closeout
- Developing and maintaining project budgets, schedules and procurement plans
- Coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and internal field resources
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and contract requirements
- Managing RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentation
- Monitoring project costs, forecasts and overall financial performance
- Working closely with site supervision to identify and resolve construction challenges
- Maintaining strong communication with owners, consultants and project stakeholders
- Supporting procurement and subcontractor buyout
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard of quality
- Taking ownership of project results, including schedule, cost, quality and client satisfaction
About You
The successful candidate will be a construction professional who takes ownership of their projects from award through closeout. You understand the importance of managing the details while maintaining strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and field teams.
You are comfortable managing multiple moving pieces and thrive in an environment where no two projects are exactly alike.

The successful candidate will have the following:
- 5+ years of construction project management experience
- Experience working with a General Contractor, Construction Manager or civil/site contractor
- A strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, contracts and project documentation
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, procurement and subcontractors
- Exposure to commercial, institutional, municipal, federal, civil or specialty construction projects
- Strong financial and cost-control skills
- Excellent communication and client-management abilities
- The ability to work collaboratively with site supervision, estimating and internal construction teams
- A practical, solutions-oriented approach to construction
- Experience with site development, concrete, civil works, exterior construction, restoration or technically challenging specialty projects would be considered a strong asset
