Position Overview
The Software Developer will support the delivery, enhancement, maintenance, and technical support of solutions associated with a large-scale enterprise modernization program.
The role will contribute to functionality delivered beyond the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and will work closely with an integrated support, development, data, and reporting team consisting of internal resources and vendor partners.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, configuring, customizing, troubleshooting, and supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE) and related systems.
A significant component of the role will involve extracting, analyzing, modelling, and presenting Dynamics 365 data through Microsoft Power BI, including the development of reports, dashboards, and business visualizations.
The position requires strong technical problem-solving skills, experience working with enterprise applications, and the ability to translate technical specifications and business requirements into reliable, maintainable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, configure, customize, extend, and support Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE) solutions.
- Translate technical system specifications and requirements into implementable technical solutions.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Dynamics 365 CE and supporting applications.
- Support the implementation of new functionality, enhancements, integrations, and future solution releases.
- Develop and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and interactive visualizations based on Dynamics 365 data.
- Perform data modelling and transformation using Power Query and develop calculations and measures using DAX.
- Configure and support Power BI data gateways and related reporting infrastructure.
- Produce reports using data from Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE) and Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O).
- Analyze complex datasets and provide meaningful insights into business performance, operational trends, and data quality.
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, completeness, and integrity of reporting data and deliverables.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries used for reporting, data analysis, integrations, and troubleshooting.
- Investigate query performance issues and apply appropriate optimization techniques, including indexing and execution-plan analysis.
- Support system testing, integration testing, regression testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Investigate and resolve defects identified during testing and validate associated data and system behaviour.
- Participate in deployment activities, release management, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Provide technical support to business and project stakeholders during implementation and production support activities.
- Maintain technical documentation covering configurations, customizations, integrations, reporting solutions, and operational procedures.
- Participate in knowledge-transfer activities and provide technical guidance to designated staff.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, vendors, business analysts, project managers, data/reporting specialists, and other technical resources.
- Ensure assigned deliverables are completed within agreed timelines and project milestones.
- Identify and communicate technical risks, issues, dependencies, and other material concerns to the Project Manager in a timely manner.
- Submit completed deliverables for project review and approval.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience developing and supporting enterprise applications.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE) or equivalent Dynamics CRM implementations.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Power BI, including:
- Data modelling
- Interactive report and dashboard development
- Power Query
- DAX
- Data visualization
- Data gateways
- Advanced Power BI functionality
- Proven experience developing reports and analytical solutions using data from:
- Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (CE)
- Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O)
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting enterprise application issues and providing technical production/support assistance.
- Experience translating technical specifications into working configurations, customizations, reports, integrations, and application enhancements.
Desired Technical Skills
Microsoft Dynamics 365 / CRM
- Strong development and configuration experience with Dynamics 365 CE.
- Experience extending Dynamics 365 solutions through customizations and integrations.
- Understanding of the Dynamics Common Data Model (CDM) and Dynamics data structures.
- Experience supporting Dynamics 365 releases, deployments, defects, and post-production stabilization.
- Experience working with enterprise CRM implementations and complex business processes.
Power BI & Data Analytics
- Advanced Power BI report and dashboard development.
- Strong understanding of data modelling and relationships.
- Advanced DAX development.
- Strong Power Query/M experience.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting Power BI data gateways.
- Experience integrating and reporting on Dynamics 365 data.
- Ability to analyze complex datasets and translate findings into meaningful business visualizations.
- Experience developing business intelligence solutions supporting operational and management reporting.
SQL & Database
- Strong SQL development skills.
- Ability to write complex queries for reporting, data extraction, troubleshooting, and analysis.
- Experience with SQL query optimization and performance tuning.
- Knowledge of indexing, partitioning, query execution plans, and database performance considerations.
- Ability to investigate data discrepancies and validate data integrity.
DevOps / Source Control
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps for work tracking, collaboration, build/release activities, and project management.
- Experience with source-control systems such as Azure Repos/Git.
- Understanding of version control, branching, change management, and collaborative development practices.
