Position summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented student to support our team with data entry for customer document packages for about two months while we move this work to a new automated application. This is a short-term, part-time role with flexible hours that fit around your classes, and a chance to gain real-world experience in an industrial manufacturing business.
Key responsibilities
- Enter information from source documents, such as work orders, inspection reports, test results and material certificates, into spreadsheets or the company system.
- Check entries against source documents for accuracy and completeness, and correct errors.
- Flag missing, unclear or inconsistent information to the supervisor.
- Scan, name, file and organize documents so document packages are complete and easy to find.
- Help compile and format document packages for customers to company standards.
- Support the move to the new automated application, including testing, entering backlog data and reporting issues.
- Keep customer and company information confidential.
- Perform other related administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a high school, college or university program.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with numbers, part numbers and dates.
- Comfortable with Microsoft Excel and Word, with good typing speed and accuracy.
- Organized, reliable and able to work independently once trained.
- Available for 20 hours per week for the next two months.
Preferred
- Studies in business, administration, engineering technology or a related field.
- Previous data entry, office or administrative experience.
- Familiarity with technical or manufacturing documents.
Working conditions
- Office environment, mostly sitting at a computer.
- Occasional visits to the shop floor, where required PPE (provided) must be worn.
- Flexible part-time hours during the business day.
