Our Canadian-owned and operated client is seeking a Financial Analyst to join their Ottawa headquarters on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Financial Analyst is responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis that gives management clear insight into the company’s performance, while supporting audits, maintaining internal controls, and improving financial reporting processes. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of ASPE, good analytical abilities and a desire to think outside the box when identifying process improvements and automation opportunities. Main responsibilities include:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial statements and reports on time, present them to management on the established schedule, and assist with year-end financial statements and notes
- Prepare all account reconciliations and analytical reports, analyze monthly revenues, expenses, variances, and gross margin, and develop and maintain KPIs and dashboards
- Prepare all supporting documentation for external auditors and maintain internal controls over financial reporting
- Lead process improvements to financial reporting and the financial close, and maintain process documentation for all financial reporting cycles
- Complete ad hoc requests and special projects as necessary, and perform other duties as assigned from time to time

Qualifications:
The main qualifications for this role include:
- CPA designation completed or in progress is preferred
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance is required
- Minimum 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting with strong technical knowledge of ASPE and applicable tax legislation
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- High proficiency in Excel
- Experience with Sage and QuickBooks is considered an asset
