We are looking for a
Legal Assistant to join an enthusiastic practice in the
Commercial Department.
How will you contribute to the team?
Our client is a group of like-minded, passionate professionals dedicated to people, solutions, and connecting the two. Legal Assistants play an important role in providing high-quality client service while supporting lawyers across a range of commercial matters.
Responsibilities
- Support lawyers with commercial lending transactions and commercial real estate transactions.
- Manage multiple concurrent transactions from file opening through successful closing.
- Conduct searches, review due diligence, order title insurance, complete conflict checks, and maintain files.
- Prepare closing documents for commercial transactions.
- Receive and disburse funds for transactions.
- Draft and prepare correspondence, reporting letters, and legal documents.
- Handle time entry and billing for client files.
- Draft and revise documents, checklists, and materials for client meetings, transactions, and closings.
- Perform other legal duties as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant in financial services and lending, including familiarity with reviewing due diligence, ordering title insurance, preparing closing documents, and managing multiple concurrent transactions.
- Post-secondary education from a recognized Legal Assistant program.
- Experience with commercial real estate transactions and institutional lenders is strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to take initiative while maintaining a tactful and diplomatic approach.
- Ability to handle confidential information ethically and professionally.
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
- Experience with Acumin and ProLaw is considered an asset.
- A good sense of humour and a positive attitude that contributes to a strong team environment.
