Databricks Engineer - ExpertLocation: Toronto, ON
Onsite Flexibility: Hybrid - Thursday and 4th Friday of the month on-site (may change due to business requirements)

- Pay Rate: C$85.00–C$95.00 / Hour (CAD)

Job SummaryThis role sits within the Global Asset Management Technology line of business, which focuses on institutional execution - the process by which asset managers carry out large-scale investment transactions on behalf of institutional clients. The team's mandate includes optimizing trade strategies, ensuring best pricing, minimizing market impact, and adhering to regulatory requirements to achieve efficient and secure execution of investment decisions. The business is on an active transformation journey and is open to exploring advanced functionality within Databricks. The candidate will work daily with the Data Engineer Lead and client stakeholders, operating within a team that includes one Data Engineer Lead, five Senior Data Engineers, and three Client/PM members.
Key Responsibilities- 7 years of experience with ADF, Databricks, and Azure Functions (C#)
- In-depth development experience with Python/notebooks on Databricks/Spark/pandas
- Expert working knowledge of Unity Catalog and data governance setup/configuration
- Experience in loading datasets from various sources using ADF to Databricks with Medallion architecture
- Experience in converting Databricks workspace from Hive Metastore to Unity Catalog and setup of associated permissions
- Creating delta table schema/tables with proper design/properties and security permissions
- DevOps and deployment pipeline using Azure DevOps/GitHub Enterprise for both ADF and Databricks
- In-depth experience with Azure Entra ID for SSO/RBAC setup
- In-depth experience working with and deploying to Azure PaaS resources such as Azure SQL PaaS, ADF/SHIR, ADLS, Databricks, and Synapse dedicated SQL databases
- Familiarity working in a locked-down Windows environment for a highly regulated industry
- Ability to work independently and lead a small team
- Proven ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Ability to lead a small team and technical problem-solving sessions
