About the Opportunity
Insight Global is seeking a Digital Payload Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, verification, and operational sustainment of next-generation satellite communications and Earth observation systems. This individual will lead digital payload development efforts and serve as a key technical interface between customers, engineering teams, and program stakeholders.
This is an exciting opportunity for a systems-focused satellite engineer with deep expertise in digital payloads, software-defined communications, and end-to-end satellite system integration.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, integration, and verification of digital payload solutions for satellite communications and Earth observation missions.
- Support system architecture development for LEO and MEO satellite platforms.
- Define, manage, and trace system requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle.
- Conduct integration, verification, validation, and system-level testing activities.
- Troubleshoot complex payload and communications system issues across hardware and software domains.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful payload deployment and operational performance.
- Act as a primary technical interface with customers, stakeholders, and program teams.
- Support operational sustainment and ongoing performance optimization of deployed satellite systems.
- Utilize Jira and Confluence for requirements management, documentation, issue tracking, and collaboration.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior engineers when required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.
- 8+ years of experience in satellite systems engineering.
- Experience designing and integrating digital payloads for LEO and/or MEO satellite missions.
- Strong knowledge of digital communications systems.
- Experience with Software Defined Radio (SDR) technologies.
- Strong understanding of Digital Signal Processing (DSP).
- Experience with satellite networking technologies including MPLS, 2G, and 5G NTN architectures.
- Experience with systems engineering methodologies, requirements management, verification, and integration activities.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and system-level testing.
- Experience working directly with customers and technical stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Jira and Confluence.
- Strong focus on system reliability, operational performance, and mission success.
Compensation:
$90K - $115K per year + full benefits packages
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and AD&D. Employees will also have access to a registered retirement savings account with employer matching.
