Position Overview
A respected BC-based civil engineering consultancy is seeking a Civil Engineering Technologist to join its growing Surrey team. The successful candidate will support municipal and land development projects throughout the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, with a focus on civil design, drafting, project engineering support and field review.
This opportunity is well suited to a collaborative and motivated technologist who can take initial direction and progress toward working independently while continuing to develop their technical and project-delivery skills.
Further Responsibilities Include:
- Research, obtain, analyze and interpret existing infrastructure record information.
- Prepare existing infrastructure base plans and civil engineering design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Support civil engineering design, analysis and calculations under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
- Research applicable specifications and standards.
- Assist Project Engineers with project-management and delivery activities.
- Coordinate and communicate with clients, owners, municipalities, contractors and other project stakeholders.
- Coordinate with third-party utilities including BC Hydro, Telus and FortisBC.
- Work with architects, electrical engineers, geotechnical engineers, traffic engineers, environmental consultants and other disciplines.
- Support civil infrastructure scopes involving sewer, watermain, roads, grading and stormwater management.
- Conduct construction field reviews, field investigations and reconnaissance as required, and prepare field-review documentation.
Ideal Candidate Requirements':
- Civil Engineering Technologist or related civil engineering technology background.
- Relevant experience in municipal engineering and/or land development within the local BC market.
- Hands-on experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and preparation of engineering drawings.
- Experience with sewer, watermain, roads, grading and stormwater-management design.
- Knowledge of civil construction, project execution, design requirements and specifications.
- Strong communication, organization and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Valid BC Driver’s Licence.
Assets
- Familiarity with Master Municipal Construction Documents (MMCD) specifications.
- Experience completing construction field reviews for quality and conformance with design specifications.
- Local Lower Mainland / Fraser Valley project experience.
- Experience coordinating with municipalities, contractors, utilities and multidisciplinary consultants.
