Our client, a civil contractor in the Greater Vancouver Area, specializes in underground wet utilities (water, sanitary, storm), deep excavations, and complex urban work. They are seeking a Senior Project Coordinator to support the planning and delivery of municipal and private utility projects across the Lower Mainland.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Project Managers and Site Superintendents to coordinate underground wet utility projects, including watermains, force mains, gravity sewers, storm systems, manholes, chambers, and services.
- Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and project requirements to identify scope gaps, conflicts, and potential risks.
- Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and project documentation.
- Support project scheduling, look-ahead planning, procurement, and coordination of subcontractors, suppliers, materials, and inspections.
- Track quantities, costs, commitments, and progress to support forecasting, progress billing, and budget control.
- Obtain and compare supplier and subcontractor quotations, prepare purchase orders, and monitor deliveries.
- Coordinate with municipalities, consultants, inspectors, and utility providers regarding permits, approvals, tie-ins, and testing requirements.
- Maintain accurate records, including meeting minutes, drawing revisions, site reports, as-builts, and quality documentation.
- Support project teams with documentation for trenching, shoring, dewatering, bypass pumping, backfill, and road restoration in accordance with MMCD and municipal specifications.
- Coordinate project close-out, including deficiencies, testing records, turnover packages, and final documentation.
- Take ownership of assigned scopes and support junior coordinators as required.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- 2+ years of project coordination experience in civil construction, with a strong background in underground wet utilities.
- Experience supporting municipal infrastructure, deep services, live tie-ins, and projects in busy urban environments.
- Strong understanding of MMCD, municipal standards, and permitting and inspection processes across the Lower Mainland.
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, profiles, specifications, and shop drawings.
- Proven experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, quantity tracking, and cost reporting.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple project scopes.
- Effective communicator who builds productive relationships with field teams, subcontractors, owners, consultants, and inspectors.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction project management software.
- A diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management is an asset; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
- Valid BC driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites across the Lower Mainland.
