Position Overview
A growing mining company is seeking a Project Hydrogeologist to support the continued development of a major mining project in British Columbia.
The Project Hydrogeologist will provide internal stewardship of the project’s hydrological and hydrogeological information, supporting decisions across geology, engineering, environmental assessment and permitting.
The role will coordinate data management, QA/QC and the interpretation of findings from external consultants, while also supporting the planning and execution of hydrogeological and geotechnical field investigations.
Further Responsibilities Include the Following
- Coordinate field plans for baseline and engineering investigations.
- Co-lead hydrogeological and geotechnical drill programs and coordinate drilling contractors and field support.
- Oversee the organization and ingestion of hydrological and hydrogeological data.
- Perform QA/QC on technical datasets and identify gaps or inconsistencies requiring further investigation.
- Analyze hydrogeological data and synthesize consultant findings to support project planning and technical discussions.
- Coordinate information between geology, engineering, environmental and permitting teams.
- Support the storage and visualization of technical information using GIS, 3D modelling and other relevant platforms.
- Provide technical guidance to junior geologists and geotechnicians during field activities.
- Document key workflows, field observations and technical knowledge to support internal continuity.
Ideal Candidate Requirements
- Degree in geology, hydrogeology, geological engineering or a related discipline.
- Approximately 3–5+ years of relevant hydrogeology or groundwater experience.
- Experience with hydrogeological data, investigations and field programs.
- Experience organizing, validating, analyzing and performing QA/QC on technical datasets.
- Experience coordinating or participating in hydrogeological and/or geotechnical drilling programs.
- Experience working with consultants and multidisciplinary technical teams.
- Ability to review technical reports and identify gaps or areas requiring further investigation.
- Strong understanding of hydrogeological investigation methods and data requirements.
- Strong communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel to a remote project site during field programs.
Additional Assets
- Mining or mineral exploration experience.
- Graduate education or specialized training in hydrogeology.
- Experience with environmental or hydrogeological data management platforms.
- Experience with GIS, 3D modelling and/or groundwater/flow modelling software.
- Exposure to environmental assessment and permitting.
- Experience mentoring junior technical staff.
- Professional registration or progress toward a relevant designation.
Work Schedule & Site Requirements
The position combines office-based work with rotational site work during the summer field season, generally from June through October/November. Travel is covered, with camp accommodation and meals provided while onsite.
