Our client, a Vancouver-based construction project delivery firm, is seeking an intermediate civil designer, technologist, or Engineer-in-Training who enjoys construction planning and finding practical ways to use technology. This role combines civil drawings and 3D modelling with the opportunity to lead AI adoption and other improvements across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare civil concepts, construction layouts, and planning drawings to support project delivery and constructability reviews.
- Develop 3D models to illustrate construction methods and sequencing, including bridge erection plans.
- Work with project teams to identify where AI, software, and improved workflows could make their work more effective.
- Lead technology initiatives from initial testing through implementation, helping colleagues adopt tools that prove useful.
- Serve as the firm’s point of contact for innovation and bring forward ideas that improve how projects are planned and delivered.
- Coordinate office technology needs, including meeting-room equipment and related infrastructure, in collaboration with the firm’s external IT provider.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in civil design, construction engineering, engineering consulting, or a related field.
- A civil engineering degree, civil engineering technology diploma, or related technical education. Engineers-in-Training and technologists are both encouraged to apply.
- Ability to prepare drawings using AutoCAD or a comparable platform.
- An interest in AI, 3D modelling, technology adoption, and practical process improvements.
- Initiative and sound judgment, with the ability to learn new tools and work with people across different parts of the business.
- SketchUp experience is an asset, although training can be provided.
- A professional engineering designation is an asset, but is not required.
