Job SummaryThe AML Business Analyst should be able to understand business requirements and interact with and explain to Technology and QA teams, Transaction Monitoring, and broader Financial Crime Risk Management (FCRM) platforms, acting as a critical bridge between FCRM business users and Technology delivery teams. This role ensures that complex regulatory, risk, and detection requirements are accurately translated into technology solutions that are well designed, data enabled, tested, operationally ready, and sustainable in BAU. The analyst enables safe and effective change across FCRM platforms by combining business application ownership, business testing leadership, data enablement, and strong stakeholder orchestration.
Key Responsibilities- Understand business requirements and interact with and explain them to Technology and QA teams within Transaction Monitoring and broader FCRM platforms
- Act as a critical bridge between FCRM business users and Technology delivery teams
- Ensure complex regulatory, risk, and detection requirements are accurately translated into technology solutions that are well designed, data enabled, tested, operationally ready, and sustainable in BAU
- Enable safe and effective change across FCRM platforms by combining business application ownership, business testing leadership, data enablement, and strong stakeholder orchestration
- Spend approximately 2 hours daily in meetings, interacting with both internal and external stakeholders
- Handle contractor access to customer data as required by the role
Required Skills- 5-7 years of experience (may be relaxed for exceptional candidates)
- Strong BA skills with BAT (Business Acceptance Testing) experience; track record of working with Data, Technology, and Data Governance teams
- Strong SQL capability: ability to interpret data and derive conclusions
- Comfortable with large datasets — query and handling
- Understanding of ETL, data mapping, and data lineage
- Ability to create and execute business testing plans focused on a business use case perspective; work closely with BAT test leads
- Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, and other BA tools
- Can take ownership and serve as single point of contact between multiple teams and handle small initiatives
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Great communication skills — able to explain technical discussions in simple business terms
Preferred Skills- AML experience preferred
- Oracle ECM / Transaction Monitoring experience considered an asset
Education Requirements- Undergraduate degree required
Required Experience- 5-7 years of overall experience; previous AML transaction monitoring experience is ideal, but a strong business background is required
