The Opportunity: The Ministry of Social Services, Child & Family Programs requires Emergency Duty Workers to fill Permanent Part-Time positions in the community of Yorkton and area. Emergency Workers will be responsible for providing after-hours emergency services to families. This role will report to a Child and Family Supervisor. This position is an on-call, rotational position, and hours are not guaranteed; standby pay is given while on rotation but not actively responding to calls. The hours will vary depending on the frequency of emergency callouts that the employee receives.
In this position you will:
- Develop and maintain open, honest working relationships and encourage teamwork with clients, foster families, biological families, collateral agencies, and colleagues within the unit and community.
- Apply knowledge of multicultural beliefs and values, with particular emphasis on First Nations and Métis perspectives.
- Apply understanding of poverty, systemic barriers, and socio-economic issues and their impact on individuals and families.
- Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure access to services and resources, remove barriers to independence, and promote overall wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct interviews with individuals and families to gather and evaluate information, assess risk factors, and determine service needs.
- Organize, present, and document case information clearly and accurately to support decisions and recommendations.
- Assess, develop, implement, evaluate, and adjust case plans collaboratively to meet diverse client and family goals.
- Identify and respond to potential safety risks, taking timely action to de-escalate crisis situations.
- Access and coordinate appropriate community resources based on specific client needs.
- Operate a vehicle independently across both rural and urban communities to support service delivery.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- To qualify for this position, you must possess a strong knowledge of human services-related policies, practices and procedures. Typically, the skills required for this position would be obtained through a diploma or degree in a human services-related field and/or experience working in a human service setting.
The successful candidates must be legally eligible to operate a vehicle in Saskatchewan, and you must be able to lift and carry small children up to approximately 20 kg. You will be required to travel, work flexible hours that include evenings, weekends and holidays, and transport children (or parents).
