The Opportunity:
The Ministry of Community Safety, Regina Community Corrections, is seeking a motivated, confident, and positive role model to deliver assessment and intervention services to offenders convicted of sexual offences.
A Sex Offender Specialist is the designated expert for clients with sexual offending behaviours. Specialists facilitate group interventions with this specific offender group and provide consultation and expert knowledge to other Probation Officers/ Community Youth Workers and community members. As part of Community Corrections, job duties may include both youth and/or adult clients.
As part of the Risk-Need Responsivity model, you will conduct validated generalized and specialized assessments that are evidence-based, prepare court reports, and develop and implement offender relapse prevention plans. Your outstanding interpersonal skills will help you respond effectively to victims of criminal offences and collaborate with community agencies, victim resources, police, and other government personnel to provide an integrated approach to offender management and supervision in the community.
To qualify, you will possess a degree from an accredited university or college, or a minimum two-year diploma, with a focus on the principles of behavioural change and other assessment skills, this would include Correctional Studies, Justice Studies, Community and Justice Services, Social Work or Mental health, or meet the grandfathering provisions in accordance with Community Corrections qualifications. As a field employee, you may be required to work non-traditional hours to provide client service in the office and in community settings (e.g., court, home visits, etc.). A valid driver’s licence is required for the position.

- Deliver programming and support services to individuals and groups based on identified needs.
- Conduct assessments to determine client needs, risks, and appropriate interventions.
- Develop and present insights on key issues and initiatives tailored to the target audience.
- Achieve program objectives while ensuring client needs are met effectively.
- Analyze and evaluate data to inform decisions and recommend improvements to practices and programs.
- Create and deliver presentations or facilitate meetings to enhance understanding of issues and initiatives.
- Complete all required documentation and reporting in a timely and accurate manner.

- theories and intervention strategies including addictions, cognitive behavioural programming, family systems, group intervention process, and evidence-based practice;
- the impact of crime/abuse/sexual violence on victims;
- community services and resources and the extent to which these resources and services support clients in the community; and
- indicators and dynamics of addictions, domestic violence, poverty, disabilities, family relationships, abuse and neglect, and their impact on the client's ability to effect necessary change when executing a case plan.
