We are looking for an Intermediate Financial Analyst for a 6 months contract with high possibility of extension. Role is hybrid with 3 days a week on site in Downtown Toronto.
About the Role
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Financial Reporting / Accounting Analyst to join their team and support monthly and quarterly accounting and financial reporting activities. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting and financial reporting who enjoys working with data, improving processes, and collaborating with multiple business stakeholders.
The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring accounting activities, reconciliations, reporting requirements, and financial controls are completed accurately and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Support month-end and quarter-end accounting activities, including journal entries, trial balance uploads, reconciliations, bank disbursements, and financial control procedures.
- Prepare and maintain supporting documentation for financial reporting, audits, and compliance requirements.
- Assist with consolidated reporting activities, including financial disclosure schedules, account analysis, and asset roll-forwards.
- Perform quarterly account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Work closely with internal business units, affiliates, and finance stakeholders to address accounting issues and provide reporting support.
- Prepare and maintain JIRA requests, financial schedules, and supporting documentation as required.
- Identify opportunities to improve, standardize, and automate manual accounting and reporting processes.
- Support process improvement initiatives designed to increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency.
- Participate in finance-related projects and other business initiatives as required.
- Ensure deliverables are completed accurately and within established month-end and quarter-end deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- Approximately 2–4 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, financial operations, or a related function.
- Progress toward a professional accounting or finance designation is considered an asset.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to work with financial data, reporting schedules, and reconciliations.
- Experience with SAP and Workiva is preferred.
- Experience building or maintaining financial reports and reporting packages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to understand financial information and apply accounting knowledge to business problems.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Comfortable working independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment, particularly during month-end and quarter-end cycles.
