JOB DESCRIPTION
Insight Global is seeking Machine Builders / Assemblers to join a leading custom automation manufacturer in Barrie, ON. These individuals will support the assembly of custom automated machinery and equipment for a variety of automation projects. Working alongside Project Leads and senior Machine Builders, successful candidates will be responsible for assembling mechanical systems from engineering drawings, troubleshooting assembly issues, and supporting machine builds through completion and shipment.
This is a hands-on opportunity for experienced machine builders who enjoy working in a fast-paced automation environment and are looking to contribute to several large-scale projects through year-end, with strong potential for extension or future full-time opportunities.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 3-5+ years of machine building, machine assembly, or automation equipment build experience.
- Experience working within a custom automation, manufacturing, or machine-building environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on assembly experience.
- Experience building both mechanical sub-assemblies and complete machines.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and mechanical build documentation.
- Experience operating manual machining equipment such as mills, drill presses, and related shop tools.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve mechanical fit/function issues.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Must provide and maintain own hand tools.
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with pneumatic systems and pneumatic drawings.
- Millwright, Toolmaker, Tool & Die Maker, or Industrial Mechanic background.
- Trade certification or journeyperson license.
- Experience building custom automated manufacturing equipment.
- Experience supporting machine commissioning, startup, or installation activities.
- Previous experience working in a project-based custom automation environment.
