About the Opportunity
An established, client-focused public accounting practice in Spruce Grove, Alberta is adding a Senior Bookkeeper to their team.
This role is built for a full-cycle bookkeeping professional who thrives in a collaborative public practice setting, enjoys managing diverse client portfolios, and values genuine workplace flexibility without the city commute.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping for a varied roster of small-to-medium enterprise clients across multiple industries.
- Complete month-end, quarter-end, and year-end working paper files to prepare accounts for CPA review and tax filing.
- Perform general ledger reconciliations, bank/credit card reconciliations, and journal entries.
- Process full-cycle payroll, including direct deposits, payroll deductions, ROEs, and annual T4/T5 summaries.
- Prepare and file GST and statutory government remittances accurately and on time.
- Maintain regular communication with client owners and internal team members to resolve discrepancies and answer accounting inquiries.
- Support onboarding new bookkeeping clients and streamlining workflows using modern cloud accounting software.
What You Bring
- Experience: 4+ years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience, with prior public accounting or multi-client firm experience preferred.
- Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO), QuickBooks Desktop, and/or Xero. Experience with Caseware, Profile, or TaxCycle is a strong asset.
- Proficiency: Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Education: Diploma or degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a recognized bookkeeping certification (CPB / PCP) is considered an asset.
- Attributes: Strong attention to detail, proactive problem-solving ability, and clear communication skills.
