We are seeking a skilled Linux Administrator / Specialist to manage, maintain, and optimize Linux-based systems and enterprise infrastructure. This role will support virtual environments, servers, directory services, messaging platforms, and database systems while ensuring security, performance, and reliability across the IT environment. This is a 3-4 month contract to start for our client in North York, Ontario and fully on site. The ideal individual will be available to work immediately.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux servers in production and development environments. Based on general knowledge.
- Manage and support VMware virtual infrastructure, including provisioning, maintenance, and performance tuning.
- Maintain and optimize physical and virtual server environments.
- Support and troubleshoot MySQL databases, including backups, performance, and availability.
- Administer and support Microsoft Exchange environments.
- Manage Active Directory (AD) integration, authentication, group policies, and user access.
- Perform system patching, upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery planning.
- Monitor system health, security, and capacity to ensure high availability and performance.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, database, and application teams to resolve technical issues and improve system operations.
- Document configurations, procedures, and support processes.
Required Skills / Qualifications:
- Strong experience with Linux administration.
- Hands-on experience with VMware.
- Knowledge of server infrastructure and system performance tuning.
- Experience supporting MySQL and other database environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Exchange administration.
- Experience with Active Directory and user/account management.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
