Robert Half has partnered up with an industry leader to identify a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join their team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong payroll processing experience, benefits administration knowledge, and a commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and employee service. Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle payroll accurately and on time for salaried, hourly, and/or contract employees.
- Payroll volumes of 400 to 750 employees
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and employee inquiries.
- Maintain payroll and benefits records, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Reconcile payroll registers, benefit invoices, deductions, remittances, and related accounts.
- Coordinate payroll submissions and ensure compliance with internal policies and applicable legislation.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including tax forms, reconciliations, and audits.
- Liaise with benefit providers and internal stakeholders to resolve payroll and benefits issues in a timely manner.
- Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, vacation balances, and benefits coverage.
- Assist with leave administration, pension/RRSP programs, and other employee compensation-related processes.
- Contribute to process improvements, reporting, and documentation related to payroll and benefits administration.
Qualifications
- Postsecondary education in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related discipline.
- PCP is a significant asset.
- 3+ years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, statutory deductions, and benefits administration.
- Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
- High level of accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
