This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who has a strong technical foundation and is working towards, or planning to pursue, their CPA designation. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
- Complete month-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Assist with the preparation of working papers and support for year-end audits
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
- Support the budgeting and forecasting process
- Assist with the preparation of internal management reports
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and relevant standards (ASPE/IFRS)
- Support process improvement initiatives within the accounting function
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff as needed
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to support business operations
- Assist with ad hoc projects and analysis as required
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Currently enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, the CPA program (early stages of pursuing the designation)
- Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting and month-end/year-end close processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP/accounting systems is an asset
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with a desire to grow within the organization
