Human Resources Manager
Our client, a well-established not-for-profit healthcare organization, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join its leadership team.
This is a hands-on HR leadership role supporting a unionized workforce within a complex, people-focused environment. Reporting to senior leadership, the HR Manager will oversee human resources, labour relations, collective agreement interpretation, workplace health and safety, and employee relations while helping shape and strengthen organizational culture.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide HR and labour relations guidance to leaders across the organization
- Interpret and administer collective agreements and support grievance, investigation and disciplinary processes
- Build and maintain positive relationships with unions and support constructive union-management relations
- Lead and support employee relations matters, including performance, attendance, leave and conflict management
- Oversee recruitment, hiring, onboarding and employee records
- Develop and implement HR policies, procedures and best practices
- Support workplace investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions
- Partner with leadership on organizational change, culture and employee engagement
- Support occupational health and safety, injury management and return-to-work initiatives
- Ensure compliance with employment, human rights and workplace safety legislation
- Maintain accurate HR data, reporting and personnel records
What We’re Looking For
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field
- CHRP designation is an asset
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally within a unionized environment
- Strong experience with labour relations and collective agreement interpretation
- Experience supporting multiple unions and/or collective agreements is highly valued
- Healthcare or long-term care experience is preferred but not required
- Strong knowledge of employment standards, human rights, workplace safety and labour legislation
- Experience managing investigations, grievances, discipline and complex employee relations matters
- A thoughtful, collaborative approach to conflict resolution and relationship building
- Someone who values psychological safety and has a genuine interest in shaping a positive workplace culture
- Strong communication, judgment and organizational skills
