About the Opportunity
A well-established organization operating across multiple business units is seeking a Corporate Accountant to join its finance team. This position offers exposure to a broad range of accounting functions within a dynamic environment and provides the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in monthly and year-end close activities.
- Support the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and various financial analyses.
- Review accounting procedures and identify opportunities to enhance processes and controls.
- Reconcile intercompany balances and ensure transactions are accurately recorded.
- Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining supporting documentation.
- Monitor and maintain the integrity of the general ledger.
- Assist with audit requests and provide required financial documentation.
- Perform account reconciliations, including cash and balance sheet accounts.
- Analyze financial transactions and investigate discrepancies as required.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
- Review operating expenses and provide insights on variances and trends.
- Partner with operational and administrative teams to improve financial data accuracy.
- Assist with selected accounts payable and accounts receivable activities when required.
- Contribute to special projects, system improvements, and process optimization initiatives.
- Maintain accurate financial records and support ongoing internal control processes.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation completed or in progress is considered an asset.
- Approximately 2+ years of accounting experience, ideally within a corporate or multi-entity environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience working with ERP systems; exposure to large-scale ERP platforms is an asset.
- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Comfortable handling confidential information with discretion.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
