Hays Specialist Recruitment has partnered with a leading global technology organization to hire a Senior Credit Risk Analyst for a contract opportunity based in Waterloo, Ontario. This role will support the organization's global credit and collections function, focusing on minimizing financial risk, optimizing cash flow, and supporting sustainable business growth through effective credit management practices.
This position is ideal for an experienced credit professional who thrives in a fast-paced corporate environment and enjoys partnering with internal stakeholders to make strategic credit decisions. The successful candidate will play a key role in assessing customer creditworthiness, reducing bad debt exposure, and driving process improvements across the credit function.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess customer credit applications, financial statements, and credit reports to determine credit risk exposure
- Approve, decline, or recommend appropriate credit limits and payment terms based on risk analysis
- Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and monitor ongoing credit risk and account performance
- Partner closely with Sales, Finance, Collections, and Customer Success teams to support revenue growth while mitigating risk
- Investigate and resolve credit-related issues, disputes, and account escalations
- Conduct financial ratio analysis and evaluate customer payment trends and behavioral indicators
- Monitor accounts for signs of deteriorating credit quality and recommend appropriate action plans
- Support collection efforts on high-risk accounts and provide recommendations to minimize potential losses
- Prepare credit recommendations and risk assessments for leadership review
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance credit granting and risk management practices
- Maintain accurate customer records, risk documentation, and compliance with internal policies
- Support acquisitions, integrations, audits, and special projects related to credit and risk management
What You Need to Succeed
- 5+ years of experience in commercial credit, credit risk analysis, accounts receivable, or financial analysis
- Strong experience reviewing and interpreting financial statements, balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
- Proven ability to make sound credit decisions while balancing customer relationships and business objectives
- Experience managing B2B credit portfolios in a large corporate environment
- Strong knowledge of credit risk principles, collections practices, and financial risk assessment methodologies
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP and CRM platforms such as Salesforce
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
- Professional designation such as CCP, CPA, CFA, or related certifications are considered strong assets
- Experience working within technology, software, SaaS, or multinational organizations is considered an asset
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy
