Hays is partnered with an award-winning Calgary-based land developer and residential home builder. They have been creating innovative and successful communities across the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area for decades. At the present time they are positioned for their next growth phase with a multi-year land base, strong financial resources, and an exceptional management team, with that they are looking to hire a forward-thinking Design Manager to lead and mentor their production and design teams.
📍 Location: Calgary, AB | In Office | Full Time – Permanent
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Production & Design team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
- Oversee the production of working drawings, plot plans, and permit packages to ensure accuracy and timely delivery.
- Ensure all drawings and documentation comply with applicable building codes, municipal regulations, and company standards.
- Manage team workloads, project schedules, and departmental priorities to meet business objectives.
- Drive the development and enhancement of new home models, elevations, and construction details.
- Collaborate with Construction, Estimating, Sales, Marketing, and Land Development teams to support project execution.
- Act as the primary liaison with municipalities, consultants, and architectural control authorities to facilitate approvals and resolve design issues.
- Establish and maintain drafting standards, quality control processes, and document management systems.
- Provide technical expertise and problem-solving support throughout the design, permitting, and construction process.
- Identify opportunities for innovation, process improvement, and product enhancement to support the company's continued growth.
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Architectural Technology or a related fiend.
- You will possess a minimum of 10 years in architectural design, with at least 4 years in a leadership role.
- Prior experience working with a production home builder is a strong asset.
- Proficient with AutoCAD.
- Proven ability to lead, develop and inspire a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Must possess sound knowledge of local buildings codes and bylaws.
The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package $110,000 - $130,000 (dependent on experience) + bonus, benefits including health + dental, RRSP and 4 weeks’ vacation with 4 flex days and the week off over Christmas.
