About the Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to support a critical finance initiative within its USA Division. The successful candidate will focus on reviewing, improving, and strengthening reconciliation processes within Oracle Fusion, addressing out-of-balance subledger issues and supporting month-end accounting activities.
This role will work closely with the Houston finance team and play a key role in identifying process gaps, implementing reconciliation improvements, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations across multiple legal entities.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and enhance existing bank and intercompany reconciliation processes within Oracle.
- Investigate and resolve out-of-balance subledger issues across the USA Division.
- Implement and adapt Canadian-based Excel reconciliation tools and best practices for use across three U.S. legal entities.
- Perform detailed account analysis and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support month-end close activities, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Partner with finance stakeholders to identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen internal controls.
- Assist the Houston finance team with various accounting projects and operational requirements.
- Document processes, findings, and recommendations to support long-term process enhancements.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including Senior Accountant-level responsibilities.
- Strong hands-on experience with bank reconciliations and intercompany reconciliations.
- Experience working with large ERP systems, preferably Oracle Fusion.
- Advanced Excel skills with experience developing or improving reconciliation tools and spreadsheets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to identify root causes and recommend practical process improvements.
- Self-starter with a proactive, curious, and continuous-improvement mindset.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting multiple legal entities.
- Exposure to U.S. accounting operations and intercompany accounting.
- Previous involvement in ERP process improvements, system implementations, or reconciliation clean-up projects.
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA is considered an asset.
