Job Description
Our client within Capital Markets Risk Management is seeking a Senior Analyst to support the Market Risk Solutions team. This individual will play a key role in delivering market risk initiatives while supporting ongoing business operations. The team is responsible for developing and enhancing market risk measurement, reporting, regulatory capital calculations, and risk systems that support enterprise-wide market risk management. This is a highly business-facing role requiring strong Market Risk domain expertise, business analysis capabilities, and project delivery experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-sufficient professional who can manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, work across diverse stakeholder groups, and apply critical thinking to solve complex risk-related challenges. Approximately 85% of the role focuses on project delivery and change initiatives, while 15% involves supporting production investigations, operational issues, and BAU activities.
Key Responsibilities
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst within banking, capital markets, insurance, or market risk environments.
- Strong Market Risk expertise including VaR, Stress Testing, Sensitivities, Back Testing, Regulatory Capital, FRTB, Basel III, and CVA.
- Advanced technical skills with SQL, Python, Excel, and experience analyzing large datasets.
- Proven ability to gather requirements, document business processes, perform current/future state analysis, and drive stakeholder consensus.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and delivering initiatives in fast-paced Agile and Waterfall environments.
- Support market risk measurement, reporting, monitoring, regulatory capital calculations, and risk system enhancements.
- Partner with Risk, Technology, Quantitative Analytics, Finance, and Front Office teams to deliver market risk solutions.
- Investigate production issues, perform root cause analysis, and support ongoing risk reporting and operational processes.
- Ability to independently lead complex analysis and project activities from initiation through implementation.
- FRM designation, Capital Markets experience, and Top 5 Canadian Bank experience are considered strong assets.
