About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations across both Canadian and U.S. employee populations. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with strong Dayforce experience who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys balancing day-to-day payroll processing with continuous improvement and project-based initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll for Canadian and U.S. employees using Ceridian Dayforce.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in compliance with applicable federal, provincial, state, and company regulations.
- Administer payroll activities for both unionized and non-unionized employee groups.
- Validate payroll data including earnings, deductions, benefits, taxes, time and attendance, and retroactive adjustments.
- Respond to employee and manager payroll inquiries while delivering a high level of customer service.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and business stakeholders to resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure data accuracy.
- Support payroll reconciliations, audits, year-end activities, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Contribute to payroll-related projects, process improvements, system enhancements, testing, and implementation initiatives.
- Assist with documentation, workflow optimization, and the development of payroll best practices.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of payroll experience processing payroll for both Canadian and U.S. employees.
- Hands-on experience with Ceridian Dayforce is required.
- Experience working within a unionized environment.
- Strong understanding of Canadian payroll legislation and payroll compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with U.S. payroll processes, tax regulations, and multi-jurisdictional payroll is considered a strong asset.
- Experience supporting payroll projects, system implementations, upgrades, or process improvement initiatives.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- PCP designation or equivalent payroll certification is considered an asset.

- Exposure to large, complex organizational environments.
- Experience with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and audits.
- Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and support special payroll initiatives as required.
