We are looking for a Payroll & HR Generalist to support payroll and human resources operations for a manufacturing organization in Guelph, Ontario. This position combines accurate payroll administration with day-to-day HR coordination, helping employees and managers receive timely support across a range of people processes. The successful candidate will bring strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of legislative requirements, and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
Responsibilities:
- Administer weekly payroll within established timelines while ensuring earnings, deductions, and related calculations are processed correctly.
- Maintain up-to-date payroll files and employee records, ensuring information is accurate, complete, and properly documented.
- Oversee benefits administration, statutory deductions, and required remittances in accordance with applicable regulations and internal practices.
- Prepare Records of Employment and contribute to year-end payroll tasks, including the compilation of T4 information.
- Address payroll-related questions from employees by providing clear, timely, and attentive support.
- Assist with hiring activities by coordinating recruitment steps, preparing onboarding materials, and supporting new employee setup.
- Help deliver employee orientation and provide administrative support for benefit, pension, leave, and accommodation matters.
- Produce HR documents and reports while responding to employee and manager questions related to workplace policies and procedures.
- Contribute to employee engagement efforts and assist with the coordination of training activities and related communications.
Requirements Of the Position
- At least 3 years of experience in payroll administration.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, Payroll Administration, or a related discipline.
- Solid understanding of payroll legislation, statutory requirements, and employment standards.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with sound judgement.
- Hands-on experience with payroll platforms and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with systems such as ADP Workforce Now, accounting software, or time-tracking tools is considered an asset.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner designation, or progress toward a related designation, is preferred.
