Our client is a well-established sub-contractor in the telecommunications / telecom industry/ underground utilities/ civil to provide FTTH solutions across Canada. They have an existing job open for an Estimator for their FTTH projects (Fiber Deployment/ Telecom to Bell Rogers and similar) to be based out of their office in the Brampton - Concord - North York, ON area. The Estimator will prepare accurate quotes, assist with RFP/RFQ submissions, and lead the bidding and estimation for fiber optic splicing and construction FTTH projects. This requires 5 days a week in office and some travel to splicing sites,
- Prepare cost estimates for fiber optic splicing, installation, outside plant and FTTH projects.
- Review drawings, route maps, splice diagrams, project scopes, tender documents and client requirements.
- Complete material takeoffs for fiber counts, closures, splice trays, terminals, splitters and related hardware.
- Build quotes, bid packages, pricing schedules and change order estimates for telecom infrastructure work.
- Work closely with project managers, field crews and sub-contractors to confirm pricing, materials and labour needs.
Underground Utilities Civil / Telecom Estimator will have minimum 3-5 years of experience as estimator - bidding , costing – cost engineer servicing tenders for utilities telecom, fiber splicing, OSP, FTTH civil infrastructure projects. Candidates should have strong knowledge of fiber optic splicing, installation methods, material takeoffs, drawings, Microsoft Excel and blueprint/takeoff tools, required codes. A bachelor’s degree or two-year technologist/electronics college diploma is preferred, along with a valid Canadian driver’s license.
