Our client, an established mining company currently expanding its operations in central British Columbia, is seeking an experienced Project Manager, Earthworks to support the next phase of development at an operating mine.
This is a two-year salaried contract offering a 14-day-on, 14-day-off rotation. A three-week-on, two-week-off rotation may also be available with additional compensation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and delivery of major earthworks, tailings, and water-management projects.
- Manage the design process and coordinate with the Engineer of Record and external engineering consultants.
- Ensure engineering deliverables align with construction requirements, sequencing, schedules, and field conditions.
- Oversee tailings dam raises, a new Tailings Storage Facility, ponds, pipelines, drainage systems, and other civil scopes.
- Resolve technical construction issues in collaboration with Project Engineers, Superintendents, contractors, and consultants.
- Coordinate materials, staging, and construction sequencing between the projects and mining teams.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, forecasts, project controls, and progress reporting.
- Lead a combination of self-performed and subcontracted construction while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Ideal Candidate Requirements:
- Degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer delivering large-scale earthworks, tailings, dam, or water-management projects.
- Mining experience is preferred, although strong heavy civil, dam, or water-infrastructure experience will also be considered.
- Experience managing engineering design and working with an Engineer of Record or external engineering consultants.
- Strong site-based construction experience and the ability to resolve technical issues in the field.
- Experience coordinating engineering, construction, project controls, contractors, and field teams.
- Practical and solutions-oriented leadership style suited to a lean, fast-moving environment.
- Ability to work a 14-day-on, 14-day-off rotation. Candidates open to a three-week-on, two-week-off rotation are strongly encouraged to apply.
