Title: Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) Specialist
Location: Toronto, ON/Onsite
Duration: 125 business days with possible extension
Client: Public Sector
Rate: $85/hr - $90/hr CAD
Role Summary:
Seeking an experienced PIA Specialist to lead and support Privacy Impact Assessments for digital solutions, programs, systems, and policies. The role will assess privacy risks, ensure compliance with applicable legislation, and recommend mitigation strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead/conduct PIAs for online, digital, cloud, and third-party solutions.
- Assess compliance with FIPPA, PHIPA, PIPEDA, MFIPPA and related privacy requirements.
- Identify privacy risks and develop mitigation strategies and recommendations.
- Analyze data flows, business processes, system architecture, APIs, integrations, and security controls.
- Work with technical, business, legal, policy, and security teams to gather requirements.
- Prepare PIA documentation, findings, recommendations, and presentations for senior stakeholders.
- Support privacy policies, risk assessments, records management, and privacy best practices.
- Communicate complex privacy/technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Must-Have Skills:
- Strong experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs).
- Hands-on knowledge of FIPPA, PHIPA, PIPEDA and privacy legislation.
- Experience with digital/online solutions and personal or health information.
- Experience assessing third-party solutions, APIs, cloud platforms, and system integrations.
- Strong privacy risk assessment, documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Nice to Have:
- Public Sector experience.
- Experience with PIA processes, templates, and approval requirements.
- Digital identity frameworks/standards experience.
- Privacy/security certification.
