Job Title: Software Developer - Senior
Job Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite)
Job Type: Contract
Client: Public Sector
Pay rate: $90/hr. - $95/hr. (CAD)
Must Have:
- Solid and current progrmming knowledge (ideally including knowledge of Java)
- Experience with low-code platforms (i.e. Power Apps)
- Full understanding of the use of Azure DevOps
- Solid understanding of server operating systems (Windows & Linux)
- Assess and test Change Requests (CRQ) with technical content and update as necessary
- Ability to provide user and system documentation as required
- Ability to conduct user experience research and translate user stories into viable product enhancements
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal and negotiation skills
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge and experience with programming Internet-ready applications
- Knowledge and experience in rapid application development (RAD) methodologies • Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices
- Experience with middleware and gateways
- Experience reviewing, analyzing, and modifying product installation scripts, including encoding, testing, and debugging
- Ability to provide post-implementation support and resolve any post-implementation technical issues
- Experience conducting design walkthrough sessions with the project team
- Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards
- Ability to provide user and system documentation as required. Additional Skills Azure DevOps and GitHub and other emerging technologies such as Power Apps
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and leadership abilities to be able to oversee the quality assurance of the project from technical perspective
Evaluation Criteria
Technical Knowledge and Experience - 50%
- Solid and current programming knowledge (ideally including a knowledge of Java)
- Experience with low-code platforms (ie Power Apps)
- Full understanding of the use of Azure DevOps
- Solid understanding of server operating systems (Windows & Linux)
- Performance Tuning - must have the ability to diagnose and optimize queries, indexes, and server performance
- Backup & Recovery - must understand the relevance and processes involed
- Multi DBMS Knowledge - must have a solid working knowledge of Oracle 19c, DB2/Windows,
- Experience with Windows and Linux-based technologies
- Experience with middleware and gateways
- Experience in application monitoring and support
- Experience in middleware software installation, configuration, tuning and administration, as well as experience with application development
- Experience with change management and release management as processes supporting the implementation of large applications
- Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development, implementation and maintenance of applications
- Ability to analyze and solve data integrity, security, configuration and recovery issues
- Assess and test Change Requests (CRQ) with technical content and update as necessary
- Ability to participate in release promotions/implementations and patching

- Provide end-to-end solution design, development, and unit testing, along with recommendations to achieve business outcomes aligned with business requirements, the Cluster reference architecture, and Ministry-specific objectives.

- Perform thorough code reviews, including unit tests and ensure high quality of the software.
- Fix defects and support other developers, testers and end users
Planning and documentation - 20%
- Write technical documentation that supports and thoroughly explains the architecture
- Deliver knowledge transfer sessions to the team on the work completed
- Produce reports and updates as required
Responsibilities
- Required to translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications. This includes: developing detailed programming specifications writing and/or generating code o compiling data-driven programs, maintaining, and conducting unit tests.
- Resolves and troubleshoots technical problems which arise during the use and operation of software packages, including technical assistance in implementation, conversion and migrations. General Skills
- Experience in programming and analysis; specialized software package support at the specified experience level
