Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or supply chain environment.
- Previous experience supervising unionized employees within a CBA environment.
- Experience leading teams of 10+ employees in a high-volume operational setting.
- Strong knowledge of receiving, inventory control, picking, packing, shipping, and warehouse optimization.
- Experience managing labour planning, productivity, and operational KPIs.
- Proven ability to drive process improvements and productivity gains.
- Experience conducting safety investigations and partnering with HR on labour relations matters.
- Strong decision-making skills with the ability to operate independently during off-shift hours.
- Advanced communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and operational reporting.
- Experience with ADP or similar payroll/timekeeping systems.
Postsecondary education or equivalent industry experience.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience in automotive, parts distribution, manufacturing, or 3PL environments.
- Experience working in a warehouse that includes light manufacturing operations.
- Familiarity with SAP, Pronto, MRSP, or related operational systems.
Experience managing multiple functional areas simultaneously, including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, and production support.
Job Description
Insight Global is seeking an experienced Warehouse Supervisor to lead overnight operations within a fast-paced distribution and light manufacturing environment. This role goes beyond traditional warehouse supervision and requires a leader who can effectively manage receiving, inventory control, picking, packing, shipping, and light manufacturing operations while leading a large unionized workforce.
The successful candidate will be a proactive decision-maker who can independently manage operations during off-shift hours, drive productivity, maintain safety standards, oversee labour relations matters, and continuously improve warehouse performance.
Typical Shift is from 11:00pm EST to 7:00am EST Monday to Friday with some OT on weekends.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of unionized warehouse associates.
- Provide direction to approximately 30-40 employees directly while supporting operations across a 100-person shift.
- Conduct performance management, coaching, corrective actions, and disciplinary discussions in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).
- Partner closely with Human Resources on labour relations matters, investigations, attendance management, and employee concerns.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, productivity, and continuous improvement.
Warehouse & Operations Management
- Oversee end-to-end warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, inventory management, picking, packing, shipping, and light manufacturing activities.
- Develop and execute daily shift plans based on production priorities, labour availability, equipment utilization, and operational requirements.
- Ensure operational targets are achieved while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.
- Monitor workflow throughout the shift and reallocate resources as business priorities change.
- Support coverage across multiple operational areas and provide leadership during supervisor absences.
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor KPIs related to productivity, inventory accuracy, throughput, service levels, and cost controls.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process improvements.
- Analyze operational data and provide daily updates to warehouse and distribution leadership.
- Drive efficiency initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, and labour management.
Safety & Compliance
- Lead workplace safety initiatives and promote a strong safety culture.
- Conduct safety investigations, including near-miss and incident reporting.
- Ensure safety documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Administration & Systems
- Manage payroll approvals and employee timekeeping using ADP or equivalent systems.
- Utilize Excel to maintain reports, manipulate data, and support operational decision-making.
- Monitor inventory accuracy through cycle counts and audits.
- Work within Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), RFID systems, barcode scanning technologies, and work-order management platforms.
